GENIVAR wins the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) in the Young Engineer/Architect Category. This award was obtained in recognition of his quality work for the ABCP architectural firm. The project consisted of transforming a former bank building into office space for ABCP.
Set in the heart of Quebec City’s Saint Roch district, the building was reconfigured via a range of innovative structural solutions. The installation of a steel mezzanine is a prime example of the extensive possibilities offered by the new space. In addition, the waiting area features a red freestanding steel wall hiding a cantilevered staircase, while one of the basement workshops is illuminated by an overhanging glass ceiling. The project design also incorporated a large number of sustainable development features, including a collapsible steel structure, abundant natural views, lighting controls and low-consumption energy sources.
