Structure, mechanical & electrical, civil engineering
GENIVAR did the civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering for the Mont Kanasuta Outdoor Centre in the Rouyn-Noranda region. Built on the site of a former ski chalet that burned to the ground, the building was given a new foundation. Its visible wood structure presented an architectural challenge that was met with panache. The capacity of the new 1,000-square-metre outdoor centre is 300 persons. The building includes a cafeteria, a multipurpose room, a bar and a deck facing the ski slopes.
The existing septic facilities were reused, to the great satisfaction of both the client and the Quebec Environment Ministry, which gave its approval without requiring that the disposal field be reconstructed, a $100,000 savings.
